Denny wanted the walk to the hangar to be as beautiful as the rest of the garden.

Planted spring 2006, Rosa 'Cecile Brunner' is an old-fashioned climbing rose that blooms in shade, without leaf spots or fungus. I do not spray. 'Cecile Brunner' looks like a tea rose (its bloom is quite small) and has a beautiful, light fragrance. I'm absolutely thrilled with this plant.
Even a tree stump can add architectural detail to the garden. Shiny white flowers are set off against the grass-green leaves of Rhodotypos scandens, a shrub that grows in sun or shade.
Spreading runners and roundish leaves make Phlox stolonifera 'Sherwood Purple' an excellent groundcover for light shade. Lindera benzoin (Spicebush), is a multistemmed, understory native shrub which blooms in early spring. It is the preferred larval host of several butterflies.
Rhododendron linearifolium var. macrosephalum 'Seigai'...With narrow, strap-like petals and extremely narrow fuzzy leaves, who would know that this is an azalea? Ninebark (Physocarpus opulifolius) is a 5-10 feet tall native shrub, blooming in spring.
Not your everyday Rose of Sharon, Hibiscus syriacus 'Freedom' is a double rose-pink variety. Common Monkshood, Aconitum napellus, blooms in the fall with elegant spikes of helmet-shaped flowers.
