One entrance into the garden is via the Pond Walkway. Planted beside it are beautiful sun loving perennials.

The Pond Walkway in March features Phlox subulata 'White Delight' Aquilegia (Columbine) with Kerria japonica in the background.
Columbines hybridize freely with so many pollinators visiting one and then another. A darker colored one showed up recently. Passalong plants from friends are always welcomed, especially when they are as beautiful as this unidentified pink German Iris.
Chinese Indigo Indigofera kirilowii blooms in early summer. Try new plants whenever you can, like this gorgeous Phygelius croftway 'Snow Queen,' which I found at Big Bloomers (see Links).
This is the species form of Ruellia, False Petunia, which some say is invasive. I love the fact that it seeds in and is making a lovely 6" tall groundcover, all on its own. Although not a native plant, Lycoris radiata, or Spider Lily, is a Southern heirloom bulb, blooming in early fall sans leaves, which died away in early spring.
The pink-flowering Obedient Plant (Physostegia) is so invasive. Try this white variety, 'Miss Manners.'
