A mixed planting of shrubs makes up the bed along the left-hand side of the drive.

Fothergilla 'Mt. Airy' echoes the grouping planted in the entrance bed. The German Iris are pass-alongs from my mother.
Rhododendron 'Chinoides' has a creamy-white blossom with a gold blotch. Gorgeous. Halesia tetraptera - Carolina Silverbell is one of my favorite small native trees.
Hummingbirds love the flowers of Aesculus pavia (Red Buckeye). Here, the color is echoed by salmon-colored azaleas.
